Proposal

We at Sideway Films intend to produce an advertisement package purposely designed to encourage and promote our working title independent horror film. In terms of target audience, our primary focus shall be teenagers and young adults, both male and female, within the national demographic (United Kingdom). This immediate demographic should also be interested specifically in the horror film genre and in a lesser compilation; thriller.

Our package shall specifically feature a teaser-length trailer, promotional poster and concept magazine front cover for a publishing partner.

The media product we are promoting in question features the abundant theme of survival, within a familiar horror/thriller package we have come to expect through the codes and conventions of the genres. Our premise reads as follows:

‘A young man wakes up in the middle of a deserted wood with no such recollection of how he got there, the prior events to his awakening, or even his own name. Before him is a hand gun with no more than six bullets and a fully charged video-camera, with written instructions to document his attempted escape. We follow our protagonist on his horrific journey to escape the never-ending forest and to achieve the recollections of his prior memories – but another unspeakable horror waits within the wood…’

Our advertising package, particularly the trailer in question, shall be compiled from the footage that is to be captured for the film itself. This shall be produced in HD, using consumer grade equipment, this is an intentional production element as to increase the realism; linking to the narrative. As for post production our trailer, and film, shall be edited within Adobe Premier Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Audition. For the poster and magazine frontcover we shall capture images specifically for the products using SLR digital cameras and Adobe Photoshop shall be used to edit and compile the product.

Finally due to the small budget independent nature, and simplistic production, our film’s budget has been set at £50,000.
